Hairstyles
Extreme hairstyles are not permitted, including:
- Varied lengths, spiking, undercuts, sculpting
- Unnatural colours
- Close-cropped or shaved patterns
- Excessive use of hair products
- Haircuts must be blended (no stepped styles).
Long hair must be tied back during practical lessons, such as PE and Science, to ensure it does not obstruct vision or pose a safety risk.
Complete or partial shaving of eyebrows is not permitted, and beards and moustaches are only allowed for sixth form students.
If parents are unsure whether a hairstyle is acceptable, they are encouraged to contact their Head of Year, for guidance.
Students arriving at school with hairstyles deemed inappropriate may face sanctions.
Jewellery
- Rings, necklaces, and bracelets are not allowed
- A standard wristwatch may be worn
- One small, discreet stud earring (round plain gold or silver) is allowed in each earlobe - no other piercings are permitted
- Students wearing jewellery may have the items confiscated.
For health and safety reasons, piercings must be removed during PE lessons. We kindly ask parents to schedule any new piercings with enough time for healing, so they can be safely removed for PE activities.
Make-Up
- No nail polish or decoration (including gels, shellac, or extensions) is permitted in Years 7–11
- Only minimal, natural-looking make-up is allowed and false eyelashes are not allowed to be worn whilst at school
- Students will be asked to remove nail polish, nail extensions and any excessive make up while in school.
Wearable technology
- Earphones should not be visible or used within school
- Smart watches are not allowed
