Life Beyond Lessons

Your education extends far beyond the classroom.

Through our KES Enrich programme, you'll discover opportunities to explore new interests, develop leadership skills, contribute to the community and prepare for your future. From volunteering and sport to public speaking, careers and the arts, every student can build a Sixth Form experience that reflects their passions and ambitions.

Enrichment Electives

Learning at KES Sixth Form extends far beyond your chosen subjects. Every student selects one Enrichment Elective to study for one hour each week, giving you the opportunity to develop new skills, gain additional qualifications and explore interests outside your main programme of study.

Our current Enrichment Electives include:

  • Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award
  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
  • Community Volunteering
  • LIBF Financial Education
  • Arts Award
  • Sports Leadership

These electives are designed to strengthen university, apprenticeship and employment applications while helping you develop confidence, independence and transferable life skills.

Leadership Opportunities

Every student has opportunities to lead, whether through our Student Leadership Team, mentoring younger students, organising events, representing the student voice or supporting our wider school community. These experiences build confidence, resilience and the leadership skills valued by universities, employers and apprenticeship providers alike.

Our leadership opportunities currently include:

  • Future Leaders Programme
  • Head Students
  • Student Council
  • Student Ambassadors
  • Subject Ambassadors
  • Peer Mentoring
  • Open Evening Ambassadors
  • Community Leadership
  • Sports Leadership

Whether you're leading a project, mentoring younger students or representing the Sixth Form, leadership helps you develop the communication, organisation and teamwork skills valued by universities and employers.

Academic Support

Every student is different, which is why our support is personalised. Alongside exceptional teaching, every student benefits from a dedicated Sixth Form Tutor who provides academic mentoring, guidance and encouragement throughout their journey. Regular one-to-one mentoring, progress reviews, study skills support and targeted intervention ensure students stay on track and achieve their full potential. Whether you're aiming for Oxbridge, a degree apprenticeship or your first Distinction, our Sixth Form team will challenge, support and champion you every step of the way.

Wellbeing

Your wellbeing matters just as much as your academic success. Our experienced Sixth Form team provides outstanding pastoral care, ensuring every student feels supported throughout their time with us. From everyday guidance and mentoring to specialist support when needed, we create an environment where students feel safe, valued and ready to flourish both personally and academically.

Trips & Experiences

Some of the most valuable learning happens beyond the classroom. Throughout Sixth Form, students have opportunities to take part in educational visits, university experiences, residential trips, employer visits and cultural activities that broaden horizons, strengthen applications and create unforgettable memories.

Music & Arts

Creativity is an important part of life at KES. Whether your passion is music, drama, art, photography or performance, there are countless opportunities to perform, create, exhibit and collaborate. We believe creativity builds confidence, encourages innovation and enriches every student's Sixth Form experience.

Sports Centre

A healthy mind starts with a healthy body. Our excellent sports facilities provide opportunities for everyone to stay active, whether through competitive sport, recreational fitness or enrichment activities. Whatever your ability or interests, you'll find opportunities to maintain a healthy balance between study, wellbeing and physical activity.

Hair & Beauty Salon

Our professional-standard Hair & Beauty Salon reflects our commitment to providing exceptional vocational learning environments. Students benefit from industry-standard facilities that develop practical skills, confidence and professionalism, preparing them for further study and successful careers within the industry.

Work Experience

Work experience is a key part of preparing for your future. All Year 12 students have the opportunity to undertake meaningful work experience, helping them explore career pathways, develop professional skills and build confidence in the workplace. Many Professional and Fusion+ programmes also include additional employer engagement, industry projects or extended placements as part of the course. Our aim is to ensure every student leaves KES Sixth Form with valuable real-world experience alongside their qualifications.
