Product Design develops creative thinking, problem‑solving, and an understanding of how products are designed, made, and used. Students work with a variety of materials—including woods, metals, polymers, and electronics—and learn key skills in drawing, CAD/CAM, sustainability, ergonomics, and modern manufacturing processes.

Across both GCSE and A Level, students study emerging technologies, environmental impact, product life cycles, and how design decisions affect users and industry. Learning is practical and hands‑on, with smaller design tasks building toward a major independent project at each stage. Assessment is split equally between written examination and coursework, recognising the importance of practical creativity.

Product Design provides an excellent foundation for further study and careers in architecture, engineering, construction, electronics, healthcare technology, agriculture, and the food and drink industry.
