Design & Technology Technician (Hard Materials)

Contract type: Part-Time | 42.8 weeks per year to include September INSET Day       

Working Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8am to 3:30pm with a 30min unpaid lunch break each day)

Are you passionate about technology and keen to support the next generation of engineers, designers, and makers? The King Edmund School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Technology Technician (Hard Materials) to join our supportive Design & Technology team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and preparing workshop machinery and tools (saws, lathes, drills, CNC router, etc.)
  • Setting up materials and resources for lessons
  • Supporting CAD/CAM and woodworking/metalwork processes
  • Ensuring safe storage and disposal of materials
  • Assisting with classroom demonstrations, student supervision, repairs and fabrication
  • Helping to deliver after-school clubs and DT enrichment activities
