Cover Supervisor

Contract type: Permanent, Part-Time, Term-Time only plus September INSET day.

Mon-Fri 07:30-14:30 with 2 x 20 min unpaid breaks (31.67 hours per week, 42.8 weeks per year)

The King Edmund School is looking to appoint a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team and play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across our secondary school.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain focused, engaged and on task with the work set by their teachers. You will help maintain a positive learning environment, promote good behaviour and ensure that learning continues with minimal disruption.

This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to work across different subjects and year groups, build positive relationships with students and gain valuable experience in a busy secondary school environment.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage and motivate young people.
• Can manage classroom behaviour calmly, fairly and consistently.
• Is organised, adaptable and able to use their initiative.
• Can follow lesson instructions and ensure students complete the work provided.
• Has a positive, professional approach and a genuine interest in supporting young people.
• Works well as part of a team and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
