Year 6 Transition

We believe it is important for children to have a smooth transition from primary to secondary education, as this helps them feel settled from the beginning of Year 7 and allows them to focus on their learning from the start.

Starting in Year 5, children from surrounding primary schools are invited into our school on a regular basis for special events and activities. These include our popular WOW Days, Christmas Workshops and Masterclasses.

During the summer term, our Head of Year 7 and Special Needs Co-ordinator visit primaries to meet the Year 6 children who will be joining KES.

These children and their parents also attend a welcome evening at our school where they have the opportunity to find out about uniform, tutor groups and other key information.

The students then attend an induction day with us where they spend the day getting to know the other students within their tutor group and their tutor.
