Heads of Year and Tutors
There are two Heads of Year in the Sixth Form, Mr Tom Hickey for Year 12 and Mrs Emma Cooke for Year 13. The Heads of Year are responsible for the welfare of all students in the Sixth Form. They play a key role in the transition of students from Year 11, but also in the progression of students to further or higher education, or employment. The Heads of Year are assisted by twelve tutors who are instrumental in the mentoring of students as they progress. Tutor groups each contain a mixture of approximately 20 Year 12 and Year 13 students.
Head of Progress and Interventions Key Stage 5
Mrs Amanda Wheal is Head of Progress and Interventions for Key Stage 5 and works with subject areas to ensure that all students achieve their potential. An effective system of tracking and monitoring is in place, so that staff are quickly alerted to underperformance and can act promptly to solve problems and get students back on track.
Mr Shane Boxall is the Sixth Form Learning Mentor. His role is to help students on a one-to-one basis with organisation, study skills and time management.
Higher Education and Careers Advisor
Mrs Lucy Cooney is available to give advice on HE and careers and all Sixth Form students have access to the school's impartial careers adviser if and when required.
