The Food department provides students with some of the best facilities and the results at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 reflect this - with grades above the national averages for similar schools. Students benefit from high quality accommodation and a professional catering kitchen, as well as restaurant provision for evening functions.
The faculty encourages a practical, healthy and safe understanding of food dishes and food production. This is supported by homework which is set regularly, to ensure students are well prepared for each lesson. The Food department also run several charity fund raising events during the school year ranging from student based functions such as cake sales, to staff events such as afternoon tea, and Let’s Do Lunch. Over the last five years the department have raised over £3,500 for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity alone.
