BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Public Services
BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Public Services is a level 2 course that is equivalent to 3 GCSEs at grades A*-C. it is taught through a mixture of practical sessions both in school and at outdoor activity centres and trips. Where appropriate we will also have guest speakers to deliver exciting and engaging seminars on various topics related to the course.
How is it taught and assessed?
There are 11 Units that are taught. Two of the Units are exams (1 hour each taken in January). Nine of the units are coursework based.
Examined units are:
- The Role and Work of the Public Services
- Citizenship, Society and the Public Services
Units assessed through coursework are:
- Working skills
- Health and Safety
- Health, fitness and lifestyle
- Sport and Recreation
- Crime and its effect on society
- Community Protection
- Employment in the Public Services
What can students progress to?
Our successful students can progress to a Level 3 (Advanced BTEC or A-levels) at KES or a College;
It is a good qualification for entry to Armed and Emergency Services, Central or Local Government and Charity work.
